With the recent election seeing additional states approve the legalization of marijuana, we wanted to see if Americans feel it’s high time for this to happen.

As illustrated below, the majority agree that marijuana should be legal for medical and recreational purposes. By generation, Millennials are most emphatic that lighting up should be legal in both capacities.

When it comes to imprisonment for marijuana-related offenses, nearly six-in-ten concur that they don’t view this as necessary or effective and support other alternatives. Most of the remainder is only in support of imprisonment for more severe marijuana offenses (33%).
